This is a compendium of timed responses, vocab stories and other personal written responses by students in Ms. Reyes's English 12 class. “Read, read, read. Read everything – trash, classics, good and bad, and see how they do it. Just like a carpenter who works as an apprentice and studies the master. Read! You'll absorb it. Then write. If it's good, you'll find out. If it's not, throw it out of the window.” ~William Faulkner

ReplyDeleteKolbenschlag's Thesis: The tale of Cinderella is a story designed to teach desireable social norms.
Textual Evidence: Paragraphs 4, 5, and 7.
ED OP:
Practically all fairy tales and folk stories are designed to teach, and Cinderella is no exception. While it is true that many of its messages (such as the idea of a woman being subservient and dependent on a man) have become wholly outdated in the 21st century, several still retain their value; such as the need to teach responsible nightlife habits mentioned in paragraph 7 and the part about Kierkegaard's existential anguish in paragraph 6.
